Because Medicare does not pay for non-medical homecare, having service from Visiting Angels is mostly an out of pocket expense for families. However, there are several options that can help alleviate the cost of homecare services.
They are:
- Veteran’s Benefits called Aid & Attendence
- LTC Insurance
- Alzheimer’s Grant- for those diagnosed with a form of dementia
- Office on Aging Grants- grant for respite of family caregivers
- Reverse Mortgage
Services can be started with just a phone call. With the assistance of our Intake Coordinator, a thorough intake will be taken over the phone and a home visit and safety assessment will be scheduled.
From there, our nurse will write an individualized, disease-specific plan of care, and select a qualified caregiver that fits your needs based on the information you provided at the home assessment.
Caregiver’s are placed with families based on the following criteria:
1.) Skill level to match the client’s needs
2.) Availability of the caregiver’s schedule with the schedule selected by the family
3.) Personality of the caregiver to match or compliment that of the client.
Because Visiting Angels was the first homecare to Introduce our caregivers to our clients that would be the next step to see if a match has been made. The Introduction is time for the senior and their family to interview and ask questions of their own.
